How to do it:

  1. Sit or lay comfortably, making sure your stomach can expand with little resistance.
  2. Now breath in smoothly, the length it takes you to say ‘Elephant’ twice.
  3. When your lungs are full, pause for the time it takes you to say ‘Elephant’ once.
  4. Then breath out for 3 ‘elephants’.
  5. Repeat this sequence 3 to 5 times.

Saying ‘elephant’ gives you a sense of time while breathing, regulating each individual breath.
