In 2024, I made the decision to get some boring yet insightful paperwork out the way. This now allows me to begin implementing stage 1 of the Charitable Business Plan.
Stage 1 – Laying the Foundations
Stage 1 is all about “Laying the foundation” of the charity organisation. Charities are built differently to business, so the components to make a successful charity are very different to business.
People: Developing a sense of community and engaging with people is the no.1 way charities get off the ground.
- Connecting with Chronic Pain services to grow the groups size.
- Volunteering at community centres and food banks, offering free wellbeing support and assistance.
- Develop communications with local authorities and local to Maidstone/Medway community organisations
Process: How are we going to start, manage and maintain an organisation while providing a face-to-face and digital service?
- We will develop workflow processes, action cards and training from multiple sources for staff to learn, train and develop.
- Finalise and complete our Charity Registration to the Charity Commission. We need to build financial understanding which is really the finishing touches to my work in 2024.
- Verify our work from key leading professionals.
Technology: We are a digital service. How can we begin developing this process?
- Train on digital processes, including growing our social media platforms and creating awareness online.
- Finish the website – then focus on building content for the Resources Hub etc.
- Build back-end system with front-end user interface that all volunteers and staff can have. This will require a login feature, along with forms and a database that can read all information in that database.
Conclusion
People, Process, Technology.
These are the 3 things I will be focusing on throughout 2025, along with other responsibilities.
Best,
Josh.
