Beneficial for:
Managing urges of thoughts of self-harm or suicidal thoughts.
How to do it:
- It’s incredibly simple. Just put a rubber or hairband around your wrist and get pinging!
- The best time to ping yourself is when you might be having thoughts of harming yourself, or during an anxiety attack. The sensation of the stinging on the wrist can fulfil some of those unwanted thoughts and helps you prolong the time in between self-harm episodes or panic attacks.
- If you can, try to avoid doing it so much that you mark yourself but you must ping yourself every time you have a negative which leads to risky behaviour because it can become an alternative habit for self-harm or panic attacks.
